An All-American sprinter on the 1981 NCAA champion 4x100 meter relay team and also a jumper for the track team, “VO” was one of the top pass receivers in NSU football history … broke single-season records for pass receptions (42, 1982) and yards (823, 1982) … finished 10th all time in career points (110,1980-82) and was tied for ninth in single-season scoring (56 pts, 1982) … finished second in career receptions (91) and leader with 2,091 receiving yards … best game was an 8-catch, 198-yard night vs. Nicholls, the No. 2 output in Demon history at the time. … ran the lead leg on the 1981 Demon 4x100 meter relay team that won the NCAA Division I national championship with a 39.32 time at LSU’s Bernie Moore Stadium … had a best of 7-0 3/4, at the time a school record, in the high jump in 1980, and a top mark of 23-8 ¼ in the long jump … sixth round draft pick of Philadelphia in 1983, also played for Baltimore.
