Robertson, a Lake Charles-LaGrange product, was a standout offensive guard who made All-Gulf States Conference for Glenn Gossett's Demons in 1969 and 1970 after transferring from Louisiana College. The Demons went 7-2 and 7-3 in his two seasons and rewrote offensive school records. Robertson set team records for most knockdown blocks in a game (37 vs. McNeese) and in a season (196) as a senior, when he was voted team captain.
