A three-year All-Gulf States Conference running back, Talbert made the roster of the Top 100 Demon Football Players of the Century chosen to kick off the 2007 football centennial … he led the Demons in yards per carry in 1961-63 … earned All-GSC third team honors and won the Coaches Award in 1961 … soared to first-team All-GSC honors in 1962, helping Coach Jack Clayton’s Demons go 7-2-1 and win the conference title outright …  was named NSC’s Most Valuable Offensive Back after his junior year … repeated as first-team All-GSC as a senior … signed a professional contract with the Kansas City Chiefs … on Coach Walter Ledet’s track teams, Talbert was a sprinter, relay member, and long jumper for four seasons … also enshrined in NSU’s Long Purple Line alumni Hall of Fame.
