Robert was a four sport star in tennis, basketball, baseball and football at NSU in 1916-17. He graduated in 1923 after serving in the service in World War I.  His prowess was most evident on the basketball court, as he helped lead teams of legendary head coach H. Lee Prather to records of 10-1 and 14-1 during his career.

Robert was named to Coach Prather's All Time basketball team over 25 years after his playing days. Prather coached at Northwestern for 37 years, and selection to his all-time team was one of the top honors a NSU basketball player could receive.

Also considered one of the out-standing football players of his era, Robert scored NSU's winning touchdown in the 1916 game against Louisiana Tech. He later guided Harris High School to three straight championships in basketball from 1924-26, when schools were not classified according to size.

Robert served as a teacher, coach and principal in the Claiborne Parish School system before retiring several years ago.
