Cornish played quarterback for two seasons after serving as a halfback his first campaign   … quarterbacked the 1930 team to a 7-2 mark, the most wins in NSU history at the time … led the Demons to an association title by being champions of the “Little Four” -- Louisiana College, ULL, Louisiana Tech and NSU, for the first time in a decade … went 3-0 against those opponents in 1930 … sportswriters remarked that the Demons were the most improved team in the state in 1930 … NSU compiled a 16-8-3 mark in Cornish’s tenure … in 1929, led a fourth-quarter rally down 13 to Louisiana College by passing the ball, ending in a 13-13 tie … competed in track for from 1929-31, set school records in the javelin (178-7) and the pole vault (11 feet) … “Happy” Cornish was also a cheerleader.
