Three-time All-America high jumper and a four-time Southland Conference champion, indoors and outdoors, during his career from 1994-97 … Bean was also a finalist in the 1996 USA Olympic Trials in Atlanta … in 1995, he cleared 7-2 at NCAA Indoors , 7-3 ½ outdoors … in 1996, he went 7-4 ½ indoors (placing 3^rd for his first All-America award), 7-3 ¾ outdoors (9^th) … in 1997, it was 7-3 3/4 at NCAA Indoors (5^th) and NCAA Outdoors … won Southland Conference Indoor title in 1994 (7-1), 1995 (6-11 ¾), was 2^nd in 1996 (7-1 ¾) and 1997… at SLC Outdoors, won in 1995 (7-1 ¾), and 1996 (7-3).
