Shade was the 1993 Southland Conference baseball “Player of the Year” who led coach Jim Wells’ Demons to the SLC title while hitting .453, second all-time in NSU history … made an impressive debut by earning first-team All-SLC in 1992 when he batted .401 while setting single-season records for runs (45), doubles (18) and hits (71) … broke his own marks in 1993 as a senior with 24 doubles and 82 hits, and also set single-season mark as a senior with 119 total bases (he had 97 in 1992) while drawing 33 walks and scoring 44 more runs …his 153 career hits in two seasons is the best total by a junior college signee in school history and his career .427 batting average is a school record … had a long career in independent baseball, mostly in Alexandria where he is considered one of the legendary players in Aces history.
