Stroud was the head baseball coach from 1924-30 and again when baseball restarted in 1940, NSU’s first consistent baseball coach since the sport was officially recognized in 1912 … NSU’s current baseball stadium Brown-Stroud Field bears his name as well as longtime coach Alvin “Cracker” Brown, who succeeded Stroud as head baseball coach … from 1927-1930 (only records available), Stroud posted a .625 winning percentage … assistant football coach under H. Lee Prather … had a doctor’s degree in medicine … beloved member of the faculty in history and physical education …. had the 1926 Potpourri, the school’s yearbook, dedicated to him … member of the All-Tufts College team as an end … coached LSU baseball from 1914-1921 and was athletics director… first winning baseball coach in LSU history with six consecutive winning seasons in his eight years as a Tiger.
