Ledbetter, a standout sprinter and horizontal jumper, never played football at Roanoke High School but developed into a pro draft pick as a wide receiver … Ledbetter set NSU freshman records in four events and broke school records in the 100-yard dash, broad jump and triple jump … set the Gulf States Conference record in the broad jump in 1964 and improved his record the following year … first played football for the Demons in 1964 … after two seasons on the field, in 1966 he was drafted by both leagues (NFL, 10th round, Cleveland; AFL, 11th round, Houston) and signed with the Oilers … played in the 1966 AFL championship game, catching a touchdown pass … moved to Buffalo in 1967-68.... In 1968, Ledbetter was twice named the Buffalo Offensive Player of the Week … finished his career with the Atlanta Falcons … chosen for Top 100 Demons of the Century roster selected in 2007 football centennial celebration.
