The 5-foot-8 native of Clarence, who played on three state championship teams in high school at Natchitoches Central (1981) and Campti (1982, 1983), was a three-year starter at NSU whose 1,454 points (110 games, 13.2 points per game) from 1983-87 ranks ninth in Lady Demon history.

Harris played on three straight Gulf Star Conference championship squads under coach Pat Pierson, with Northwestern posting an overall 79-32 record in her four seasons as a guard and small forward.

She hit a 10-foot baseline jumper with three seconds left to lift the Lady Demons over Duke 89-88 in a 1986 WNIT semifinal game in Amarillo, Texas.

Harris also poured in 37 points earlier that season, her junior year, to lead an 86-83 victory over No. 4-ranked Louisiana-Monroe, an eventual NCAA Final Four participant.

A two-time All-Louisiana (first team, 1987) and All-Gulf Star Conference selection (first team, 1987), Harris was a three-time Academic All-District 6 honoree.

Her senior season scoring total of 560 points (20.7 ppg) ranks seventh all-time at NSU. She holds the Lady Demon scoring record in Prather Coliseum with a 39-point performance against Nicholls that occurred 22 years ago to the day that she will be honored Saturday.

She had a career high of 40 earlier that season, her senior year, in a neutral site win over Wyoming, making her one of only seven Lady Demons to score 40 or more points. She also scored 30 or more points seven times, including 35 against LSU as a junior.

During her career, the Lady Demons also defeated Florida, Kansas, Southern Mississippi, Nevada, and Wyoming. They reached the championship game of the 1986 Womens' National Invitation Tournament with Harris making first-team All-WNIT.

She wrapped up her career ranked fourth in scoring, fifth in rebounding (605, 5.5 per game), 10th in field goal percentage (46.4) and 12th in free throw percentage (64.9) in school history at the time.

Harris was the leading scorer (16.3 ppg) for the 25-7 Lady Demons in 1985-86. The 25 wins remains the school record for most victories in a season.
