A 1948 first-team All-Gulf States Conference fullback, Jackson arrived at Louisiana Normal after completing service in the U.S Navy in the fall of 1946, making the varsity football team as a running back … in 1947, he was a member of the Demons’ 440 relay team that captured the prestigious Southwestern Relays title … he also ran the 100- and 200-yard dashes along with legs on the 440 and 880 relay teams in 1947 and 1948.
