NSU’s longest-tenured baseball coach with 26 seasons, Brown was also a beloved assistant football coach under Harry Turpin and Jack Clayton … in baseball, Brown’s tenure was highlighted by the 1957 Gulf States Conference championship team that had an overall 17-8 record, 10-5 in GSC games … had an overall 198-205-4 record from 1949-66 (records from 1941-48 unavailable) … Brown helped the Demon football team win GSC titles in 1953, 1957, 1958 and wrapped up his career as part of the 1966 staff that enjoyed a 9-0 season and another GSC crown … The Demons’ baseball stadium, Stroud Field, was renamed Brown-Stroud Field in his honor.
