Loftin was an outstanding player for coach H. Lee Prather's Demon squads in 1934-38, serving as team captain his last two seasons. A highly successful coach in his Red River Parish hometown of Martin, Loftin served in Gen. George Patton's Third Army seeing action during World War II. He later became principal at Martin for seven years and spent two decades as superintendent of schools in the parish.
