A solid and productive player, Robinson got his first extensive action last year as a backup linebacker behind two seniors and opens this year as the No. 2 weak side linebacker. He is not heavy by compensates with good speed and hitting ability. He had a good spring practice.

2005: Ranked 13th on the team with 27 tackles with 18 being solos...Also had 1.5 tackles for a loss...Had a season-high seven hits against Southeastern Louisiana...Had six hits and one-half tackle for a loss at McNeese State.

2004: Saw limited playing time in veteran laden linebacker corps in his redshirt freshman year, and did not record a tackle.

2003:  Redshirted.

High school: A two-time all-district outside linebacker and a 3.7 student, he was No. 2 in his 198-pound weight class in powerlifing in 2002-03...Had a 310-pound bench press, a 435-pound squat lift, and a 470-pound dead-lift...Played for former Stephen F. Austin head football coach Lynn Graves in high school...Was a National Honor Society member with a 3.7 GPA.

Personal: 21 years old, born 1/22/85...Son of Mike and Sonja Robinson...Three younger brothers, Jeremy (19), Byron (16) and Tony (12)...His mother is a nurse and his father is a supervisor for Tyson Foods...His mother was once a finalist in the 100 meter dash at the Texas state high school championships...His full name is DeMichael Shermaine Robinson and his nickname is "Mike."
