2009 PRESEASON ALL-SLC SECOND TEAM
Washington is the glue to the offensive front. His intelligence, experience, versatility, leadership and ability makes him a pivotal member of the 2009 Purple Strike offense. He will be a four-year starter and shifts back to center after spending much of last year at guard.
2008: Played in 11 games and graded out at 77 percent for the season… had a 60 percent grading or better in every game and had a best of 88 percent in 72 snaps at Stephen F. Austin… played 670 snaps for the season and finished with 41 knockdown blocks… graded out at 86 percent in 68 snaps at Baylor and 86 percent in 57 snaps against Southeastern Oklahoma… had a season-high of seven KO blocks against Sam Houston State.
2007: Starter at center in all 11 games and compiled a 77 percent grading... graded out at 70% or better in every game and peaked at 86 percent at Nicholls State... had 27 knockdown blocks with a season-high five at Texas Tech.
2006: Played in every game averaging 67 percent on his grades… had 24 knockdown blocks… posted a season-high grade of 84 percent in 84 snaps with eight Kos against Arkansas-Monticello (Sept. 30).
2005: Redshirted.
Washington in High School: A two-time All-District, All-Cenla, and All-State Class 4A selection ... named most valuable offensive lineman his junior year while also being selected to the All-Cenla track and field team...nicknamed “Big Wash” and graduated with a 3.5 gpa... a member of the FCA, Latin Club, and served as a teacher cadet.
Washington's Personal: Born July 19, 1987... son of Valerie and Jeffery Washington... one sister, Jasmine... his grandfather, James Washington, played football at Southern in the 1940s and his father, Jeffery, played from 1968-72... his uncle, Michael Washington, was drafted by the Washington Redskins and has a master's degree from Harvard... his mom, Valerie, is a dentist and father is a teacher and minister... majoring in biology… nickname is “Big Mo.”
