Rugged, athletic, intense and smart, Charlie Brooks is one of the Purple Swarm defense's key figures. He was a star on an Alabama Class 6A state championship basketball team, and the quarterback on a playoff football team at Alexander City. Offered the chance to walk on at Alabama, he followed the recommendation of his high school coach, former Demon center and Scott Stoker teammate Jeff Steers, and took a scholarship offer from NSU.

2006: Ninth on the team with 34 tackles including three sacks and seven tackles for a loss... also forced two fumbles and broke up four passes... season best six tackles with a TFL against Texas State... collected five tackles each at Baylor, vs. Delaware State and at Southeastern Louisiana.
2005: Finished 9th on the team with 46 tackles and third with three sacks... had 6.5 tackles for loss and broke up four passes... had a season-best 10 tackles with one sack and 2.5 TFLs at McNeese State... had 9 tackles and 1.5 sacks at Sam Houston State.
2004: Credited with seven tackles and a blocked kick in his freshman season, playing mostly in pass rushing situations and on special teams.
2003: Redshirted.
Brooks in High School: All-State Class 4A at quarterback/athlete after his senior year at Coosa Central (Ala.) High School ... MVP of the Class 4A basketball state champions for 2002 and 2003, leading the team with 18 points and 15 rebounds per game ... in football, he accounted for 22 TDs as a senior, throwing for 747 yards and running for 747 more ... voted permanent football team captain ... also won numerous scholar-athlete awards and carried a 3.5 grade point average ... played for former Demon center Jeff Steers in high school.
