Wattigny can play inside or outside as a senior after spending most of his career at tackle. If younger players develop as anticipated, he could shift outside to maximize his speed and skills. An extremely bright, fundamentally sound and tough player, Wattigny served on the interview board during the coaching selection process in December.
2008-09 Honors: NSU athletic honor roll, fall (3.00-3-45) and spring (3.5-3.99)... SLC Commissioner’s Fall Academic Honor Roll.
2008: Recorded 38 tackles, half of those solos, in playing all 12 games… had 2.5 sacks and 7.5 tackles for a loss… also recovered a fumble, blocked a kick and had a quarterback hurry… posted a career-best eight tackles to go along with a TFL against Nicholls State… had seven stops, six of those solos, with a sack and two TFLs against Southeastern Oklahoma.67
2007: Finished the year with 21 tackles in 10 games played... had 3.5 tackles for a loss and 1.5 sacks in addition to a forced fumble and quarterback hurry... season-high four stops at Nicholls State and Texas State, where he also had a tackle for a loss... had a sack at McNeese State.
2006: Played in all 11 games recording 15 tackles and three tackles for a loss… season-high four stops with a TFL against Texas State (Oct. 28)… had three tackles each at Kansas (Sept. 2) and vs. Delaware State (Sept. 16).
2005: Redshirted.
Wattigny in High School: Football and baseball team captain at Holy Cross... had 303 career tackles, 30 sacks and 47 tackles for a loss... as a senior, earned All-District honors... also named to the WWL-TV Team, Clarion Herald Team and Times-Picayune Team... All-Region as a sophomore, junior and senior... finished with 127 tackles with 14 sacks and 26 tackles for a loss as a senior... team's Defensive MVP as a senior... graduated with a 3.5 gpa... All-Academic in football and baseball... member of the National Honor Society, Project Fur, Blue Circle and a five-time recipient of the Tiger Award.
Wattigny's Personal: Feb. 7, 1987... only child of Kathi and Louis Wattigny... father is a plumbing contractor and mother is an account executive for Pepsi America… his grandfather, Lou Deutschmann, played football and baseball at LSU then went on to play in the NFL for the New York Giants... also played professional baseball for the Boston Red Sox organization... Lou held the Louisiana state prep record for most yards rushing in a game for many years until it was broken recently by Skylar Green of LSU… majoring in history with a minor in social science… member of the National Honor Society, Project F.U.R, Blue Circle, and a five time recipient of the Tiger Award… full name is Scott Louis Gerard Wattigny.
