Edwards has battled injuries but has been very productive when healthy. He is a very strong route-runner with good explosiveness. Edwards can play either the outside or inside receiver positions and also can return punts and kickoffs, having experience in both roles.
2008-09 Honors: NSU athletic honor roll, spring (3.00-3.49)... SLC Commissioner’s Fall Academic Honor Roll.
2008: Caught six passes for 95 yards for a 15.8 per catch average in playing 11 games… also returned six punts for 62 yards for a 10.3 average, and had one kick return for 11 yards… had two receptions for 31 yards against Southeastern Oklahoma and two grabs for 24 yards at Central Arkansas.
2007: Averaged 17.2 yards on 13 kick returns... returned 16 punts for 87 yards and a 5.4 average... caught eight passes for 83 yards in 10 games played... rushed for 33 yards on six carries... had three receptions for 25 yards at Ole Miss... caught two passes for 10 yards in season opener against Henderson State.
2006: Played in two games returning one punt for zero yards… saw action against Delaware State (Sept. 16) and at Nicholls (Oct. 21).
Edwards in High School: Earned all-state honors as a junior and senior and was named the best defensive back his sophomore season after picking off six passes while scoring three touchdowns… helped lead his teams to the playoffs as a freshman and senior… also lettered in basketball, baseball and track… graduated with a 3.5 gpa and accumulated the highest average in his English and history classes.
Edwards' Personal: Born Feb. 17, 1987… son of James and Georgia Edwards… two brothers, Christopher and Quienten Edwards… Christopher plays arena football and was a state finalist in track… Quienten was also a state finalist in track… both mother and father were track state finalists in high school… nickname is “Cip”… majoring in sociology.
