2007 SLC ALL-ACADEMIC
Smooth, steady and speedy, Varnado is also an Academic All-America candidate whose pass-catching skills have made him an integral part of the receiving corps for three seasons. He's also a fine special teams performer and was one of the emergency quarterbacking options last season.

2007: Third on the team in receptions (18), receiving yards (200), and receiving yards per game (20.0)... hauled in one pass for a touchdown with his longest grab being a 48 yarder... had five catches for 62 yards and a touchdown at Ole Miss and caught five passes for 29 yards at Sam Houston State... had 50 yards receiving on two catches at McNeese State.
2006: Led the team in receiving yards with 358 while ranking second with 25 receptions... scored one touchdown while averaging 14.3 yards per catch and 35.8 yards receiving per game... career-high eight receptions for 117 yards against Sam Houston State (Oct. 7)... had four catches for 47 yards and a TD vs. Arkansas-Monticello (Sept. 30)... made a catch in every game played (10) but one.
2005: Had one catch for three yards in five games played... also had one rush for one yard.
2004: Redshirted.

Varnado’s Personal: 22 years old, born 9/27/85... son of Donna and Bill Varnado... mother is an elementary school principal... father is a retired farmer... has a brother, Dustin (17) and a sister, Casey (26)... majoring in social science with a minor in education... on pace to graduate in Spring 2009... plans on becoming a coach after his playing days are done.
