Lawrence is the nation’s fourth-leading returning rusher. A former walk-on, Lawrence already ranks among the most productive running backs in Demon history. After leading the Southland Conference in rushing last year with 1,377 yards ? the fourth-best single-season total in school history ? Lawrence is 10th all-time at Northwestern in rushing yardage. If he matches that tremendous total, he would rank second in school history. He needs 1,523 yards to set the record, an average of 126.8 ypg in 12 games ? last season, he averaged 125.2 ypg. His unique running style often involves him swinging his left arm in windmill fashion to keep his balance.
