McElwee in High School:  An honorable mention Academic All-State and first-team All-District 2-5A quarterback as a senior ... accounted for 19 touchdowns and nearly 2,000 yards for coach Benjy Pierce’s Chiefs ... ran for 761 yards (129 carries, 5.9 ypc) and 12 touchdowns ... threw for 1,316 yards and 7 touchdowns, completing 59.3 percent (118-199) of his passes ... passed for 301 yards on 18 of 23 aim with a touchdown at perennial Class 5A power Ruston ... 236 yards with a touchdown on 18 of 30 accuracy against Airline ... three-year starter at quarterback ... also a standout baseball player, earning all-district recognition (second team pitcher and third baseman in 2005, honorable mention at third base in 2006) ... played pitcher and right field on 2005 American Legion state finalist 15-16 team in 2005 ... four baseball letters, three in football, one in track ... invited to Nike Football Training Camp in summer 2006.
