2006 ALL-SLC 2ND TEAM
A physical and agile tight end with big play capability, Broyles is an all-star candidate. He has shown very good hands, the ability to make catches in crowds and is considered a very strong run blocker. A tough, smart player, he assumed the starting role last year after Kedrin Seastrunk's knee surgery and blossomed into an all-conference performer. In the off-season, he works as a waiter in an upscale downtown restaurant.
Honors: NSU Athletic Honor Roll, Silver 3.000-3.499 Fall 2005, Spring 2006.
2006: Earned All-Conference honors after hauling in 18 passes for 202 yards... he averaged 11.2 yards per reception and 18.4 yards per game...his 43 yard grab at Ole Miss was the team's longest reception of the season...in that game, he caught two passes for a season-high 56 yards... had four catches in back-to-back games against Sam Houston State and at Southeastern Louisiana.
2005: Played in nine games and caught five passes for 63 yards and a touchdown...had one catch each against ULL, Sam Houston State, Nicholls, McNeese and Stephen F. Austin... had an 18-yard TD catch at Louisiana-Lafayette.
2004: Slowed early in season by illness, but returned to action and emerged as a key in the tight end picture as projected starter Mark Morris was injured for first half of the year...had two catches (12 yards) but both were for TDs, a 2-yarder from Davon Vinson to get the Demons on the board in a 40-35 win over Appalachian State and a 10-yarder vs. Montana in the I-AA playoffs...had an impressive spring practice.
2003: Redshirted.
Broyles in High School: Honorable mention Class 4A All-State after making 8 sacks and ranking second on the team in tackles as a senior, when he was a second-team all-district pick ... as a junior in 2002, he was listed as a "Player to Watch" by Dave Campbell's Texas Football and made 12 sacks, earning District 16-4A Defensive Player of the Week honors and honorable mention all-district status...had a school-record 78-yard punt ... as a sophomore, he was listed as a "Top Prospect" by Dave Campbell...lettered three years in football and three years in track, and also earned one letter in soccer...carried a 3.8 grade point average.
Broyles' Personal: 22 years old, born 3/6/85...he is the son of Larry and Kay Broyles and has one sister, Kayla (19)...shares the same birthday as Demon head coach Scott Stoker...majoring in general studies with a minor in physical fitness and has plans on being a teacher or coach after graduating.
