2ND TEAM PRESEASON ALL-AMERICAN BY CONSENSUS DRAFT SERVICES

 

Brown is a skilled man-to-man cover corner who could threaten the school career pass breakups record shared by NFL standout Terrence McGee and 1998 Buchanan Award runner-up Jermaine Jones. He adjusted well to the new Purple Swarm scheme during spring practice and will help anchor the secondary this fall.

           

RECORDS WATCH:  Needs 16 pass breakups to tie Terrence McGee and Jermaine Jones for the NSU all-time lead.

           

2008:  Led the team with 19 pass breakups after starting all 12 games… finished with 39 tackles, 30 of those solos… recorded two sacks and had two interceptions with 57 yards in returns… had a season-best seven stops against Grambling to go along with 1.5 tackles for a loss… had one of his ints against Sam Houston State, which he returned for 17 yards and the other at Texas State, which he returned 40 yards for the first score of the game… blocked a kick at Central Arkansas and had four PBUs against Grambling.

           

2007:  Tied as the team leader with three pass interceptions while leading the squad with nine pass breakups... played in all 11 games and ranked 11th on the team with 30 tackles... also blocked one kick, forced a fumble, and had one tackle for a loss... picked off passes in the first two games of the season, then returned his third pick (vs. Texas State) for 37 yards before being brought down... posted a season-high five tackles against Henderson State (Sept. 1) and at Texas Tech (Sept. 29).

           

2006:  Saw action in just one game - at Southeastern Louisiana.

           

2005: Redshirted.

           

Brown in High School:  Lettered four years in football and two in track... ran a 4.5 40-yard dash as a senior... earned First Team All-District honors along with All-City Honorable Mention honors as a senior.

           

Brown's Personal:  Born Sept. 21, 1987... son of Keith Brown, Sr. and Marion Smith... two brothers, Keith Brown II and Larry Von Montgomery, and a sister, Kristal Smith... his cousin, Brian Mitchell, recently retired from the NFL after a lengthy career with the Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles… majoring in accounting and dreams of playing in the NFL... a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
