He's been with coach Scott Stoker for five years and enters his senior season as a solid figure in the linebacking corps. If he can avoid nagging injuries that have hampered his production in previous seasons, McMillan could be a bellwether for the Purple Swarm defense. He will be a key leader on the team in a small senior class.

While heading to lunch on campus under an umbrella during an April 11, 2005 thunderstorm, the Slidell native was struck by lightning. The strike left his right hand and forearm tingling, but he suffered no serious injury and didn't immediately seek medical attention. He later consented to an exam at the Natchitoches Parish Hospital and was cleared. That earned him the nickname "Lightning Rob." But it wasn't his first brush with lightning. In the summer of 2003, he was napping at his University Columns apartment when he was awakened when a lightning strike ignited a fire in his building. he threw away the umbrella he was using this spring within an hour after the incident, and he's not in the same apartment, either.
