2019 Season: Missed the first half of the season with a sports hernia, which limited him to three games … started against Central Arkansas on Oct. 19 and produced six tackles and one sack in his most extensive playing time of the season … also appeared at Nicholls (Oct. 12) and at McNeese (Nov. 2), recording one tackle in each game.
2018 Season: First team All-Southland Conference at safety … led the conference and tied for eighth in the FCS with five interceptions … was third nationally in takeaways (combined interceptions and fumble recoveries) with seven … named first-team sophomore All-American by Hero Sports…first team All-Louisiana Collegiate Football Team selection…appeared in all 11 games, starting 10…in his first start against Grambling, he intercepted two passes, winning College Sports Madness’s SLC Defensive Player of the Week … also intercepted passes against Lamar, Nicholls and SHSU … led team in tackles with 82, including nine in games against Nicholls, Sam Houston State, Houston Baptist and Abilene Christian… 10 games of six tackles or more … added five tackles for loss and two fumble recoveries…had a pick six right before halftime against nationally ranked Sam Houston State … recovered fumbles against Houston Baptist and Abilene Christian … returned 16 punts for 108 yards……had returns of 17 and 29 against McNeese in the second half to set up 10 points in the upset win…had a blocked kick against McNeese in overtime to send the game into double overtime…swept Southland and Louisiana Sports Writers Association Special Teams Player of the Week awards against McNeese, added STATS LLC National FCS Special Teams player of the week.
2017 Season: Made 16 tackles in eight appearances … team’s leading punt returner with 11.2 yards per attempt on 10 returns … had team’s highest kick return average at 22.8 yards per attempt on five returns … long punt return of 27 yards came against Sam Houston State … caught a 58-yard touchdown pass from punter Parker Pastorello on a fake punt against Central Arkansas ... long kick return of 35 yards came against McNeese … as a defender, made first career tackle in opener at La. Tech … season-high four tackles against Grambling … had three tackles vs. SHSU with a pair of tackles against Nicholls and HBU … season-high two solo tackles vs. Nicholls … one sack vs. HBU.
2016 Season: Redshirted.
High School: Max Preps Second-Team All-American as a safety ... Louisiana’s Defensive Player of the Year and a repeat All-State Class 2A pick for the state champion Pioneers coached by Lewis Cook … The Lafayette Advocate’s Small School Defensive MVP for 2015 … repeated All-State, All-Acadiana, All-District and All-Metro honors from his junior season … Notre Dame went 48-6 in his four seasons, finishing as state finalists in his freshman year, in the quarterfinals in his sophomore year, in the semifinals in his junior year, and as the 14-0 unbeaten state champs in 2015 … finished with 64 tackles, including 5.5 for loss, with 15 pass breakups and two interceptions as a senior as the Pios recorded eight shutouts and allowed a TD or less in three other games … had an 18.4 average on 24 punt returns, a 19.3 average on kickoff returns … played in the offensive backfield on short-yardage situations and scored eight TDs on 11 carries … also was All-State in the javelin in track and field last spring with a 191-10 best … has an 11.3 time in the 100m dash, and a 4.45 40-yard dash time, along with a 4.0 pro shuttle clocking that recruiting analyst Max Emfinger said was the best by any safety he has seen in 2015, including times at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Personal: Son of Jeffrey and Eloise Bourgeois … his father is deputy assessor in Acadia Parish and his mother is a nurse … has two brothers, Gavin and Waylon … Gavin plays baseball at ULL and Waylon rides rodeo at McNeese ... majoring in business administration.
