the 2002 Texas class 2A Offensive Player of the Year, Franklin will be counted upon to lessen the impact of the departure of Northwestern's career scoring leader, Derrick Johnese, at tailback. Franklin has made big strides in his ability to run between the tackles and has the agility and quickness to break any play for a long gain.

2004: Showed steady progress until a shoulder injury late in the season...Led the Demons in rushing with 76 yards against McNeese State...Recorded 50 carries for 266 yards and scored three TDs...had a tough debut when he fumbled an option pitch from the 1 and kicked it into the end zone, where it was recovered by Louisiana-Lafayette, in an opening season 14-7 loss...Got his first college TD two weeks later while running for 55 yards on five carries, including that 1-yarder, against Texas Southern...43 yards on 10 carries as Demons rolled up 368 rush yards in 40-35 win over Appalachian State...2-yard TD run vs Oklahoma Panhandle State...Team-best 76 yards rushing on eight carries in the fourth quarter of 47-17 rout of McNeese State...35 yard on 11 carries in 44-7 whipping of Texas State, but sustained the shoulder injury that ended his season.

High school: The Texas Class 2A Offensive Player of the Year and All-State as a senior when he averaged 267 yards rushing per game, scoring 35 touchdowns and accumulating 2,925 total yards...Had five games of 300+ yards rushing as a senior...District 20-2A Offensive MVp...Helped Troup win the bi-district championship and qualify for the area round of the state playoffs...Named the All-East Texas Offensive MVP after winning the East Texas Player of the Week for nine consecutive weeks...Three-year all-district at wide receiver and defensive back as a junior...Voted Mr. Troup High School Senior Class Favorite, Most Athletic and Best Physique...Honorable mention Class 2A All-State in basketball as a junior, when he was troups team MVP...First or second-team all-district in basketball since his freshman year...Also honorable mention All-District 20-2A in baseball at second base as a junior...A sprinter and horizontal jumper on two straight district championship teams...As a junior, he was a regional qualifier in the 100 meter dash and the long jump.
