2009 PRESEASON ALL-SLC SECOND TEAM
Freeman is an excellent run blocker who has made some clutch catches in past seasons, but is looking to improve his receiving skills. A well-respected senior leader who is an excellent student, “Gordo” could be a great asset this fall.
2008-09 Honors: NSU athletic honor roll, spring (3.00-3.49)... SLC Commissioner’s Fall Academic Honor Roll.
2008: Fourth on the team with 18 receptions with 139 yards… had two touchdown receptions… averaged 7.7 yards per catch and 11.6 yards per game receiving… played in all 12 games… had five catches for 32 yards at Central Arkansas and four catches for 43 yards and a touchdown against Grambling… also had a TD catch against Nicholls State.
2007: SLC All-Academic… caught seven passes for 63 yards and a touchdown in nine games played... had two receptions for 26 yards and a score at Northeastern and two catches for 19 yards against Texas State.
2006: Saw action in eight games catching four passes for 36 yards.
2005: Redshirted.
Freeman in High School: First-team all-district junior season… named Ironman Award winner in his junior and senior seasons… team captain senior season as the Lobos went 12-1 with a state quarterfinals appearance under head coach John King, a former Demon All-America offensive lineman and a teammate of NSU record-holding quarterback Scott Stoker from 1987-89 … a three-year letterman in football… four-year letterman in baseball… three times second-team all-district in baseball… American Legion member… attended Texas Boys' State convention… Youth Advisory Commission member… member of Texas Bank and Trust Bank Board… Student Ambassador.
Freeman's Personal: Born May 30, 1986… son of Mary Freeman and the late Ronnie Freeman… father was a Vietnam veteran with two Bronze Stars, mother works for Texas Eastman … has four brothers, Walter, Landon, Lucas, and Carlin, and a sister, Lisa… full name is Gordon Avery Freeman… earned his bachelor's degree this past May… plans to pursue a job with the Department of Homeland Security… nickname is “Gordo.”
