After getting his first Demon playing time last season, Schwantes had a fine spring and could be a starting center or guard this fall. He spent most of spring at center. The question for him is can he hold a good enough playing weight to consistently perform at a high level each week.

2007-08 Honors:  NSU Athletic Honor Roll, Silver (3.00-3.49) Fall 2007, Spring 2008.

2007:  In five games, he compiled a 64 percent grade with one knockdown block... had a high grade of 70 percent against Stephen F. Austin.

2006:  Redshirted.

Prior to NSU:  Played two years at Dodge City Community College where he graduated with honors... his sophomore team was the runner-ups to the league championship.

Schwantes in High School:  Lettered three years in football... earned All-League honors as both a junior and a senior... earned All-League honors as both an offensive and defensive lineman his senior year... graduated with a 3.5 gpa.

Schwantes’ Personal:  22 years old, born 12/3/85... son of James and Denise Schwantes... father is a maintenance mechanic and mother is a dental office secretary... one sister, Sara (23)... majoring in business administration and plans to go into real estate.
