2017 Season: Dual-threat quarterback who appeared in seven games as a freshman ... threw for 53 yards on 5-of-15 passing ... team’s fourth-leading rusher with 147 yards on 46 attempts and a touchdown ... had a wildcat package installed for him ... led a second-half comeback against ACU with 10 second-half points ... engineered a 62-yard scoring drive capped by his 14-yard touchdown run ... rushed for career-high 57 yards on 18 carries and threw for career-high 39 yards on 3-of-8 passing ... picked up a fourth-and-inches conversion as NSU attempted to protect a lead against Sam Houston State in an eventual loss ... other top rushing games included 32 yards (UCA), 19 yards (SFA) and 18 yards (HBU, SHSU).
High School: Academic All-Stater (4.6 GPA) who was a three-year letterwinner in football for coach Kody Groves ... first-team all-district selection as a senior after throwing for 2,840 yards and 27 touchdowns, helping lead Poteet to an 11-4 record and to the Class 5A Division II semifinals ... added 501 rushing yards and four touchdowns ... second-team all-district as a junior, throwing for 2,608 yards and 29 touchdowns and running for 432 yards and three touchdowns ... took over at quarterback in the second game of his sophomore year, earning sophomore of the year honors after throwing for 1,783 yards and 20 touchdowns ... two-sport athlete as he played three seasons as a baseball shortstop.
