2011 Season: No one stood out from the Lady Demon roster more than right-hander pitcher Kelee Grimes as she nabbed five awards over the course of a breakthrough season….. on April 6, Grimes fired the 11th no-hitter in school history, while posting 16 strikeouts after facing 20 batters, in a 2-0 win over Alcorn State and complete the non-conference softball doubleheader sweep… the no-no led to her first of back-to-back Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week selections after also defeated Texas-Arlington, the Southland's then No. 2-ranked offensive unit, 3-1, allowing only one run and 24 strikeouts in 14 innings…. the following week of April 18, Grimes combined with fellow pitchers Kylie Roos and Brooke Boening for a three-hit shutout and a 3-0 win at Louisiana Tech and hurled a 13-strikeout, blanking Southeastern Louisiana 7-0 and capturing her second SLC POW award... Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.
Struck out 10 in a four-hit pitching performance at UCA, giving the Lady Demons to the 3-2 victory…. fired 11 strikeouts and held Nicholls to two runs to help NSU mount an epic 5-2 comeback victory, where the Lady Demons mustered a five-run final frame, and earned her an honorable mention in the May 5th SLC Pitcher of the Week selection….in the season finale opener vs. Texas State, she carried a no-hitter through 6 1/3 innings and finished the 1-0 win with her second one-hitter of the season, her fourth shutout and her eighth complete game with eight strikeouts and two walks, lifting NSU to its first postseason appearance in five years….capped her junior season with a 11-8 record and ranked as the league’s best pitcher after throwing 125.1 innings with 154 strikeouts, .196 opponent batting average (third in the SLC), and the 18th nationally-ranked earned run average of 1.40 ….her stats helped NSU to become the No. 1 rotation in the conference with a 2.09 team earned run average and 421 strikeouts.
2010 Season: ESPN the Magazine/Cosida Academic All-District team... Capital One Bank SLC All-Academic First-team... completed season with a 3.36 earned run average in 29 appearances….recorded 92 strikeouts and only allowed 66 hits in 89 innings pitched… hurled five complete-games this year, including an 11-inning duel against Texas-Arlington in which she tossed all 11 innings, giving up just four hits and one run….struck out 12 batters against Sam Houston in a complete-game, establishing a new career-high….ranked among the league's elite pitchers in hits allowed and opposing batting average (.231).
2009 Season: Recorded a career-high 10 strikeouts against McNeese State Feb. 24... struck out at least five batters eight times in her freshman campaign...allowed season-low two hits four times last season...
At Pineville HS: Named 2008 Gatorade Louisiana Softball Player of the Year … honor issued by The Gatorade Company centers on sports accomplishment but also high standards in academics and character … one of five finalists for the Alexandria Town Talk's 2008 Sportswoman of the Year award … a three-time All-State star who led Pineville (32-5) to the 2008 state Class 5A championship game, losing in 12 innings …first-team Academic All-State … District 4-5A MVP honors … during her four years, Pineville had an overall 92-41-3 record, including a 30-4 district mark … she was 83-37 with a career ERA of 1.17, striking out 715... owned a career .328 batting average … four-year first-team all-district and All-Cenla pitcher … the Lady Rebels made four playoff trips, reaching the quarterfinals in her sophomore year and the finals in 2008 … six-year member of the ASA Diamond Dust team … qualified for the state cross country championships as a junior and senior … perfect 4.0 GPAs in her sophomore and junior years in honors curriculum … graduated with 3.97 GPA … National Honor Society, Who's Who Among American High School Students … nominated to attend Girls State … Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Patriotic Award … member of Key Club, Anchor Club, Students Against Drunk Driving, the Governor's Program on Abstinence, and the Fellowship of Christian Students.
Personal File: Born Kelee Danielle Grimes on August 1, 1990…..the only daughter of Floyd and Anita Grimes...both parents are self-employed….has three brothers: Scott (31), Kyle (30) and Brent (26)…..majoring in business administration with a minor in fashion merchandising while maintaining a 3.89 grade point average....has studied dance for 12 years, participating in local and state dance competitions and volunteered as a Salvation Army bell ringer for the past 10 years…..serves as president of the Blue Key Honor Society and vice-president of NSU’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)….member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and Beta Gamma Sigma….after completing her undergraduate studies in May 2012, Kelee plans to enroll in NSU’s sport administration graduate program and work in college athletics.
