Prior to NSU: Played six games in 2013 with Mississippi Delta CC recording 51 tackles, two sacks and forcing two fumbles … had a season-high eight tackles against Itawamba Community College … obtained a 3.2 GPA.
 
High School: All-around athlete at Shaw High in football, baseball, basketball and track … named Athlete of the Year for the Delta region … Offensive MVP in football … was a part of first squad to reach state championship game in school history and recorded 12-3 finish … won football team Defensive MVP honors as a sophomore and junior … won Sportsmanship Award as a junior … team MVP, Golden Glove winner and best offensive player in baseball … best rebounder, Leadership Award, Sportsmanship Award in basketball as a senior … won district title in the high jump, was second in the discus, fourth in the long jump and ran on the winning 4x100m relay team … Gold Glove award winner three years in baseball … team’s best hitter as a sophomore.
 
Personal: Son of Yvoynne Sims, a teacher … has four siblings,  Christopher Watkins (28), Elijah McDaniels (18), Leanna Allen (17) and Monica Sims (16) … majoring in math and has plans to become a teacher and coach … born Feb. 13, 1994… full name is Devante Damon Allen … nicknames is “Vonta.”
