Biography

2016 Southland Conference Commissioner’s Fall Honor Roll

2016 Season: Played in all 11 games, starting the final two  of the season … recorded 18 total tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss … recorded two quarterback hurries … recovered one fumble for 35 yards against Lamar … best game came against Sam Houston State when he recorded four tackles and two tackles for loss.

2015 Season: Started 10 games and appeared in another at defensive tackle … made 22 tackles with two for loss … recorded three quarterback hurries and a blocked kick … blocked kick came against McNeese (10/24), also had a tackle for loss … career-high six tackles against Nicholls (10/31) with one tackle for loss … added three tackles against Southeastern (9/3) and Lamar (10/17).

2014 Season: Redshirted after injuring shoulder just two games into his true freshman season … made one tackle each against Missouri State and Baylor.

High School: All-State first-team as a junior for 10-4 team that made the regional round … as a sophomore, helped Hempstead reached the state 2-A finals finishing 14-1 under coach Ricky Sargent … three-year all-district 26-2A first-team selection … part of four straight playoff teams with a combined 38-13 record … a four-year starter in football … four letters in football and track and field, and three in basketball … captured fifth place in the state in the discus throw as a senior … took eighth place in the shot put at state after placing first at regionals … qualifier in track and field in the shot put (51-0) and discus (157-0) as a junior … played in the 2013 Down Under Bowl in Australia … member of the Theatre Club at HHS.

Personal: Son of Joseph and Nina Roberts ... mother was an all-district basketball player … youngest of four siblings … two brothers, Joey, (32) and Joseph Jr. (24) … two sisters, Jeaine (30) and Chrissandra (26) … communications major that wants to work in sports broadcasting … nickname is “JRob” … born Jan. 19, 1995.
