2013 Season: Junior college transfer set seven NSU single-season records while helping lead the Demons to a 6-6 record that was their best since 7-5 in 2008 … suffered an interception only every 42 attempts … school season records he set included total offense, points responsible for (144), passing yards, passing TDs, completion percentage, pass attempts and completions … pass yardage total ranked 20th in FCS … threw for 331 in 55-14 rout of SWAC champion Southern, one of four games in which he passed for three TDs… threw for 300 yards or more twice (Southern and Stephen F. Austin), and eclipsed the mark in eight games… finished with a 60 percent passing percentage nine of NSU’s 12 games… had three touchdown passes against Southern, Langston, Central Arkansas and SFA… tallied 224 yards on the ground with three touchdowns.

NSU Sam Goodwin Link AwardPrior to NSU: Co-offensive player of the year at Riverside after completing 67 percent of his passes (193-289-6) for 2,744 yards and 28 touchdowns for a 9-2 team that ranked fourth in the Southern California Community College top 20 … his completion percentage (66.8) was third among all California community college QBs and his 28 TDs ranked ninth, although his 289 attempts ranked only 30th. … his six interceptions were the fewest in the state by any QB with at least 250 attempts … added 3 rushing TDs in his only year as a starter, beating out a transfer from Utah for the starting job … averaged 249.5 pass yards per game, 16th among 50 QB’s ranked in the 70-team California Community College Athletic Association … noted for his leadership and competitive savvy by coach Tom Craft.
High School: Played quarterback and cornerback at Romana HS … threw for 1,373 yards and 13 TDs, going 96-197-9 for the Rams … also ran for 455 yards … was a two-time first-team all-league pick in 2008 and 2009 … also basketball at Romana HS.
Personal: Son of John and Mandy Adkins … has a brother, Casey, and a sister, Karina … full name is Zachary John Adkins … born 4/20/92 … recruited by Louisiana Tech before its coaching change.
