2014 Honors:

• Southland Conference Preseason All-Conference Football Team, first team selection (7/16/2014)

2013 Season: Started all 12 games at defensive tackle… awarded honorable mention all-conference… recorded 42 total tackles including seven for loss… personal-best eight tackles and 1.5 sacks against Central Arkansas including key stop inside own 10… seized seven tackles and a sack against Nicholls… five tackles and a sack against UAB… five tackles and one-half sack against Langston.
2013 Honors:

2012 Season: Played in 10 games… season-high four tackles at Nevada… three take-downs versus Mississippi Valley State with a tackle for loss… three tackles at Stephen F. Austin… two tackles, one sack versus Nicholls.? ?

2011 Season: Assisted on four tackles against the LSU Tigers…assisted on three tackles against Delta State in the home opener… one solo tackle against Central Arkansas and Stephen F. Austin.? ?

High School: Rated as Louisiana’s No. 43 prospect in 2009 although he did not play due to a knee injury  ... Played defensive line and was named as his team’s MVP as a junior after recording three sacks in one game and the following year as a senior….had scholarship offers in 2009 from Kentucky, Colorado, Central Florida, and Southern Mississippi ... First Team All-District as a junior after stacking up 71 tackles and 10 sacks, along with 5 tackles for loss and 2 fumble recoveries,  although he missed lots of action with an ankle injury ... Also excelled in track and field where he was all-district in 2006-07….three-year letterman for coaches Vernon Langley and Jeffery Jones.? ?

Personal:  Born July 6, 1990 ... son of Jesse and Donna Simon ... one sibling, Keltiontare Martin ... criminal justice major  ... nickname is “Big D” ....after completing his studies at NSU, Deon wants to pursue a career in the NFL or as a U.S. Marshal.
