Biography

1988-89 Postseason Guide: A starter for two and a half years, Martin and the 15-foot jumper are synonymous .. started 18 games this season after missing only one in the past two years .. is the Lady Demon dead-eye from the free throw line, hitting 75.8 percent (25-33) from the charity stripe .. percentage was higher, but Martin has missed her last six free throws ... season high of 14 points came at the expense of Texas A&M (12/17), while career high of 22 came at US International (12/17) ... 4.7 scoring average is sixth best on the team ... is one of three players finishing four years with the Lady Demon program .. was a member of the NSU squad which finished second in the Women's National Invitational Tournament in 1985-86 .. a member of the Southland Conference all-academic team, Martin answers to the nickname "Doc"

1987-88:  Scored more points (307) than she had in entire career ... 120 rebounds nearly equaled the total grabbed in first two years (128) and 4.4 rebound average nearly doubled previous career average ... team's second leading scorer with 11.4 average and 77 assists were second most on squad ... one of two players to collect more assists than turnovers ... started season off with a bang, averaging 13.7 ppg through season's first 11 games and 4.6 rebounds ... reached double figures in points on 15 occasions, second most on team ... recorded a double-double in February 27 contest vs. North Texas State with 15 points and ten rebounds (a new career high) ... started every game every game except February 4 contest vs. Southwest Texas State, a game she missed entirely with injured ankle ... career high 22 points came in 96-92 overtime victory over U.S. International in first round of Nevada-Reno tournament ... twice had six assists in a game (vs. McNeese State, 2/20 and UTA, 2/25), tying career high.

1986-87:  Started 26 of 27 contests, finding the double digits scoring column 11 times ... tripled scoring average from freshman year (2.7 to 8.1) while also improving both her field goal (46.2%, up from 40.2%) and free throw (72.3%, up from 36%) percentages ... yanked down 3.4 rebounds per outing, doubling first year effort of 1.6 ... 77 assists was top returning figure on team and she was one of just two returnees to have more assists than turnovers (51) a year ago ... blocked 11 shots to double yet another figure from her freshman year .. showed what she's capable of doing during eight game mid-season stretch, averaging 11.9 ppg, 2.8 rpg, while shooting 51.3% (41 of 80) from the floor and 72.2% (13 of 18) from the line ... established a then career-high win back-to-back 16 point efforts (vs. Sam Houston State, 2/24 and Southwest Texas State 2/26) ... nine free throws vs. Southeastern Louisiana (2/16) were most made freebies by a Lady Demon all year ... named to the Gulf Star's All-Academic team.

1985-86: Saw action in 25 games, winning first NSU letter ... averaged 2.7 points and 1.6 rebounds ... netted double figures twice with 11 points vs. Pn American University (12/5) and 12 markers vs. Hawaii-Pacific (3/1) ... averaged 6.7 points in games that she scored.

High School:  Won 11 letters while a prep ... that breaks down to five in basketball, three in track and three in softball ... two year all-state selection ... state MVP after senior season ... USA Today named her an All-American Honorable Mention ... averaged 10.1 points per game and eight rebounds as Anacoco rolled to a 46-1 record during her final season .. Anacoco captured one state championship and three district titles during Martin's career .. also four time all-district selection .. played first base in softball ... long and high jumped in track
