2016 Season: Started all 11 games at weakside linebacker in his first Demon season, finishing fourth on the team with 61 tackles, including four for lost yardage … forced a fumble … made an impressive debut with 10 stops at Baylor in the season opener, leading the team … six tackles at Central Arkansas, and a week later at Southeastern … led NSU in an abbreviated outing in blowout win over Kentucky Wesleyan, making five stops, including two for loss (-7 yards) … six hits vs. Nicholls.
Prior to NSU: Named team MVP at LA Pierce as a sophomore … fourth in his division with 7.6 tackles per game (68 total) … had 2.5 sacks and nine tackles for loss.
High School: Four-year football letterman at Nordhoff High School …three-time first-team all-conference … two-time conference linebacker of the year … led team to consecutive conference championships … set a school record with 178 tackles as a senior … conference defensive player of the year as a senior.
Personal: Son of Bill and Mindy Welch … dad is a mason and mom is a softball coach … one sister Shelby (22) … psychology major who aspires to be a child counselor.
