Received a medical redshirt for 2016 season after knee surgery, allowing him to return for his senior season.
2016 Season: Suffered a knee injury in third game at Central Arkansas that was revealed following his dynamic 176-yard rushing outburst a week later at Southeastern … that injury required surgery and ended his season … averaged 88.8 yards per game, 6.5  yards per carry … his 176 yards on 22 carries was the biggest rushing total (at the time, later eclipsed by De’Mard Llorens) by a Demon since 2008 … Jones was despondent postgame because he lost two fumbles, one punched out by a trailing defender at the end of a 53-yard run inside the Lions’ 20, and the other while twisting for extra yards at the end of a 10-yard gain as NSU tried to tie or take the lead with 3:33 to go … a week earlier, had 86 yards on 11 carries at UCA, including a 52-yard run that set up NSU’s first TD.
2015 Season: Third-best 424 rushing yards in his first season as a Demon … averaged a team-high 6.2 yards per carry among players with double-digit attempts … scored four touchdowns and appeared in all 11 games … added two catches for 16 yards … NSU career-high 89 rushing yards on 10 carries vs. Lamar (10/17) … five other games with at least 40 rushing yards, including vs. UL Lafayette (57 yards and a touchdown), vs. Incarnate Word (54 yards and a touchdown), vs. Miss. State (43 yards), vs. Abilene Christian (43 yards and a touchdown) and vs. Sam Houston (41 yards and a touchdown) … season-long run of 41 yards against ULL (was a touchdown).
Prior to NSU: All-State running back at Southwest, averaging 123 yards per game in eight games to rank eighth in NJCAA … finished with 981 yards (6.1 yards per carry) and six touchdowns … career-high 204 yards and two touchdowns against Hinds Community College … had games of 109 yards (Jones County), 168 yards (Copiah-Lincoln), 125 yards (Miss. Gulf Coast) and 165 yards (Coahoma) … caught 11 passes for 86 yards … ranked as the No. 22 junior college running back by Rivals.com and turned down FBS offers to sign at NSU.
High School: Rushed for 2,844 career yards and 37 touchdowns … averaged seven yards per carry.
Â
Personal: Son of Robert and Cecalie Jones … two brothers, Dalvin (22) and Dalron (22) … two sisters Ashley (23) and Symone (19) … psychology major with  a 3.0 GPA who wants to be a psychologist or a nurse.
