Summary

Biography

General:  Good man to have on court when pressure defense is needed.  Has experience as a starter and belongs in an up-tempo, pressing style game.

1987-88:  Playing time decreased significantly due to injuries and other assorted ailments ... appeared in just six games, scoring nine points for a 1.5 scoring average ... got six of those points in off-the-bench performance against Texas-Arlington (2/25) and Demons needed every one to squeak out 61-59 victory ... played in three of season's final four games, totaling 36 minutes, after getting just six minutes of playing time (two games) in first 24 games.

1986-87:  Was on the bench for most of season's first half, appearing in just four of first 14 games and scoring only eight points in those encounters ... began seeing steady stream of action beginning with Northeast Louisiana contest (1/17) and played in 13 of team's remaining 14 games, starting final seven contests ... exploded for career-high 23 points (third highest that year and the highest individual point total among all returnees this year) against Southeastern (2/2) in 88-70 Demon romp ... keyed many of NSU's comebacks, figuring mightily in NSU's 77-63 victory over Centenary (2/9) ... Demons trailed by 19 with 16 minutes left, spurt for a decisive win .. Williams contributed nine points, six steals and then career-high nine assists in just 26 minutes of action ... along with improving scoring average (to 4.9, up from 2.8), also increased assist average (3.8, up from 1.6), despite playing in ten fewer games ... best statistical improvement, however, was in turnover department, where he went from 2.7 per game down to 1.4.

1985-86:  For a freshman, did a very commendable job of running NSU's motion offense, directing squad to most wins (11) in four years ... didn't score much (2.8 ppg), but then again, didn't shoot often (2.5 field goal attempts per game ) ... averaged 22 minutes per game and had team's second best free throw percentage with a .667 mark .. passed off for season best five assists vs. Kentucky (11/22) in season opener .. had eight points vs. Centenary (2/10) for season high mark in the points department ... averaged a point more on the road (3/4) than on the road (2.1).

High School:   Took home a total of five varsity letters a a prep (three in basketball, two in track) ... started as point guard for West Monroe team that went 10-0 in district play and 36-1 in all games during his final prep season (1983-84) ... team won district championship and advanced to state semi-finals as he was named team MVP and second team all-district.
