At Florien HS: Williams averaged 24.1 points and 9.8 rebounds per game for the Black Cats. He was the Most Valuable Player of the state in Class B in 1992 as a junior and was a two-time All-State Class B pick. Williams also earned all-district honors three times. Williams averaged 20 or more points per game all four years, peaking at 24.8 in his junior and senior seasons. As a junior he added eight rebounds, three assists and five steals. In his senior year Walt averaged ten rebounds, four assists, and six steals each game. Florien was the district champion in his junior and senior years, adn advanced to the state finals both years. In that two-year span, Florien went 73-18.

Personal: Walt learned to shoot while playing with his uncles and his father, Walter Williams Jr. His mother is Shirley, and his sister Shirlynda plays basketball for the Lady Demons. Williams is majoring in physical education and intends to coach at a high school. He would most like to meet Magic Johnson.
