Byrd High School … lettered in football, basketball, tennis and track … started track his junior year after quitting basketball to run during the indoor season … state qualifier his senior year in the 100 (10.7) and 200 (22.11) … was named MVP and swept gold in the 100, 200, 4x100 and 4x200 events … was in the magnet program, key club and stamp club.
 
Personal: Son of Pam and Joe Jernigan … born January 2, 1998 … has four brothers, Verne, Brandon, LaDarrius, and Jarell … cousin is Arnaz Battle, former football player for Notre Dame and the San Francisco 49ers … majoring in health and exercise science with plans to become a physical therapist.
