2016 Indoor Season: Ran the 800 meter, 1 mile and distance medley, while participating in three meets… had six finishes in the top ten, including a first-place finish in the Cameron Communication McNeese Invite distance medley with Jacob Dahlhoff, Anson Ballow, and Anthony Renteria combining for a time of 11:10.21… best mark in the 800 meter was 2:04.03 at the LSU Bayou Bengal… in the one mile had a top mark of 4:35.30.
2016 Outdoor Season: Ran in the 800, 1500, and 4x800 meter relay, participating in seven meets… had three top-five performances with a first-place finish in the 1500m at the Leon Johnson NSU Invitational… best mark in 800m was 2:08.30 at the SLU Lion Invitational… top finish in the 1500m was again at the Leon Johnson NSU Invitational with a time of 4:01.70… led off the 4x800 meter relay with Jacob Dahlhoff, Josh Wilkins and Anthony Renteria combining for second-place finish at the McNeese Cowboy Relays with a time of 8:03.77.
2015 Outdoor Season: Ran in the 800m, 1500m, 4x400m, and 1600 sprint medley; participating in eight meets… had six top-five performances with a 1
st place finish in the 1500m at the Demon Triangular Invite… best mark in the 800m was 1:58.99 at SFA Skechers Carl Kight Invitational… in the 1500m, best mark of 4:03.74 was at the Leon Johnson NSU Invitational… in the 4x400 had a performance of 3:17.73 with Kaymin Carter, Brent Giddens, Hunter Wamack at the Demon Triangular… 3:29.97 mark with Gabriel White, Amir James, and Anthony Taylor in the 1600 sprint medley at MSU Cowboy Relays.
2015 Indoor Season: Participated at the LSU Invitational and The TAMU 13-Team Invitational... best performance in the 800m was at TAMU with 1:59.98 mark… with Tanner Owens, Kaymin Carter and Marquise Foster, best performance in the 4x400m relay was 3:20.18 when came in 7
th at LSU.
High School: Graduated with a 3.4 GPA… participated in band, FBLA, and National Honor Society… lettered four years in football, basketball, track, and cross country… cross country team was district champs and 3
rd in regionals and track team was district and area champs his junior year… during his senior year, the cross country team as district champs, placed 3
rd at regionals and 7
th at state; track team was district and area champs and 3
rd at regionals…captain of high school’s first team to make it to state meet… participated in the 5000m, 1600m and 3200m events… ran best time for 5000m his senior year with a time of 16:16… 1600m best time of 4:24 during senior year… 800m best time 1:53.7 his senior year... as a junior was district champ for cross country, mile and 800m… was district champ for cross country, state qualifier, all-state, all-academic for 5000; district and regional champ in the 1600m; and district and regional champ, and state runner-up in the 800… broke 2-mile and 40 year old 800m school records… coached by Brand and Barbara Urban.
Personal: Son of Jeff and Carrie Butts… born February 15, 1996… has one younger brother Nicholas… mother is a teacher and father is a banker… majoring in Computer Information Systems… he plans on getting a career in database administration or cyber security.
