SLC Commissioner’s Fall Academic Honor Roll
2011: Started all 11 games and registered 33 tackles… recorded a sack against McNeese State and SLU, and a fumble recovery against Texas State… four QB hurries … broke up a pass against McNeese State… season-high seven tackles against Nicholls… tallied at least one tackle in every game.
2010: Honorable mention All-Southland Conference in his first year as a starting DE … dynamic performance in double OT win for homecoming over Sam Houston State, with career-high 10 tackles, 1.5 sacks for minus 6 yards, and a QB hurry ... had two sacks and a QB hurry on three successive plays in first OT … that game started a strong season-ending four-game string in which he made 26 of his 46 stops … broke up two passes and had two QB hurries in 16-3 win at Texas State … recovered fumbles in wins at Central Arkansas and Texas State.
2009: Began season as starting tight end at Houston game, played in a blocking role in 10 games … moved back to defensive end after season.
2008: Redshirted.
High School: First-team all-state, District Defensive MVP with 105 tackles, 11 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries, an interception that he returned for a touchdown and four forced fumbles ... also made first-team all-district as an offensive lineman for a 9-3 team that won the district title and lost in regionals for coach Keith Thomas ... as a junior, was first-team All-District on defense with 83 tackles, 6 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries and 7 forced fumbles as Groveton went 10-2, won the district and fell in the regional round of the playoffs ... lettered 3 years in football, 4 in track and field ... student council member ... has won awards for his work in University Interscholastic League theatre productions ... 3.2 grade point average.
Personal: Born Aug. 16, 1990… son of Lanny and Kim Williams… four brothers, Calvin, Ross, Heath and Zack… majoring in psychology and plans to pursue a military career… full name is Wade Garrett Williams.
