"Julie had a hard adjustment as most freshmen do, but this year has improved 100 percent and has become much more aggressive," she coach Pierson. She saw action in six games last season and had a field goal percentage of .5000, along with 1.7 ppg average; her high game of 4 coming against Louisiana Tech.
Coach Pierson said Julie's biggest improvement has been in her ball-handling and in defense. She is a versatile player "in that she can play a point guard or a strong guard position and she will be utilized as both. She's a super athlete. She has good quickness and speed and plays the game with as much determination and desire as any player we have," said Pierson.
Julie was a standout as a prep. She went to Trinity Heights where she aided her team in winning the LISA state title in her senior year. The team had a 36-0 record. The 5'7" guard averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds a game as a prep and named to the all-state and state tournament teams in her senior year.
The talented guard came to Northwestern on a softball scholarship. She plays the left field position for the Lady Demon Squad.
The 5'7" Lady Demon who comes from an athletic family, also ran cross country and participated in track during her prep years. She has six sisters, all of whom play softball and a brother who won a Missouri state wrestling championship a few years ago.
Julie was an outstanding student in high school being named to Who's Who in American High Schools and National Honor Society. She is majoring in Health, Safety and Physical Education and her career goals include coaching at a Christian High School.
