Sherrie is in her third season with the Lady Demons after coming to the team in 1978 as a walk-on. She missed a chance to play her first season because of a knee injury sustained in pre-season work-outs. After undergoing knee surgery last year, she finished out the year seeing action in seven games. Coach Pierson said she continued to improve as the season progressed. Sherrie is expected to serve as a strong back-up point guard for the 1980-81 season. Pierson said, "She performs extremely well against zone defenses because of her excellent passing vision."

Broocks shot .273 percent from the field last season and .500 percent from the free throw line. She had a total of 11 rebounds for the season with a game high of 7 rebounds. She had a 1.0 ppg average. She hit four points against Nicholls State for her highest scoring game of the season.

The three year letter winner at DeRidder High School averaged in double figures throughout her prep career. She is also a member of the Lady Demon softball team. She is a Health, Safety, and Physical Education major and has future plans to coach and teach.
