Biography

Johnnie Kay Heard was the Lady Demons' top recruit in 1981, and coach Pat Pierson expects good things right away from the 5'6" freshman guard.

"We expect her to come in immediately and give us depth at the point guard position," Pierson said. Being touted as one with having excellent ball handling and defensive skills, Heard should fit right in with the Lady Demon pressure defense and running game.

"Fitting into" a basketball program has not been a problem for Heard. Last year she was a first team All-Texas selection, Most Valuable Player for District 9-4A, and South Texas All-Star, just to name a few awards. The list goes on ...

Heard is a Physical Education major who has aspirations of teaching and coaching at a high school.
