When Cindy Berry came to Northwestern State on a softball scholarship, the news was welcome to Lady Demon head coach Pat Pierson. "We're glad she's here," Pierson stated. "Cindy will really help us on the boards because she has good size and is a very hard worker. You need someone with determination to work underneath, and Cindy is the one you would want."

The 5'8" forward who was an All-District performer 1979-81 averaged 10 points, five rebounds, and four assists during her high school career. Berry also chalked up awards for being best defensive player in 1980 and assist leader in 1981.

Berry, a Physical Education major, hopes to be a successful teacher and coach following graduation. But before she receives her degree, the freshman will surely have plenty to say in Lady Demon basketball and softball during the next four years.
