Biography

Coach Pickett on Appenfeller:

“She is coming back from injury and had a great fall.  She knows softball and she knows how to pitch - she is not just a thrower.  It’s just about staying healthy so she can be consistent.”

 

Honors:  SLC Commissioner’s Honor Roll, Spring 2008... NSU Athletic Honor Roll, Silver (3.000-3.499) Spring 2008, Fall 2008.

 

2008 Season:  Pitched in 23 games with five starts, going 0-5 on the season with a 12.67 ERA... threw 43.1 innings and struck out 10 batters... gave up no earned runs in four innings of work against Louisiana-Monroe on Feb. 12... also allowed no earned runs in four innings against UTSA on Apr. 19.

 

Before NSU:  Compiled a 12-3 record and 2.12 earned run average at Butler Community College...  threw 92.1 innings and struck out 88 batters in helping her team to a 52-12 finish, including a 1-2 mark in the national tournament... gave up 69 hits and walked 53 batters.

At Blue Valley North HS:  Lettered four years in softball... team finished third in Eastern Kansas League in her freshman season before finishing fifth during her sophomore, junior, and senior seasons... earned all-league honorable mention all four years... graduated with a 3.8 GPA.

 

Personal File:  Born Leigh Elizabeth Appenfeller on March 23, 1988... daughter of Pam and Greg Appenfeller... father Greg is a doctor... has one sister Allison (23)... majoring in Health and Exercise Science... plans to pursue a career in nursing... life ambition is to have a family and stable job.
