Coach Pickett on Dornelas:

“Sara has done a great job with pitching all fall.  The thing with Sara is that she is going to do more than just pitch this year.  She is also going to be doing some hitting for us.”

2008 Season:  Ranked tied first in the Southland Conference with 49 appearances and first with 21 games finished and 21 games in relief... compiled a 7-24 record with an 8.49 ERA... started 28 games, sixth best in the SLC, and threw 13 complete games... ranked tied for fifth in the league with 198.1 innings pitched... struck out 68 batters... also had one save... picked up her first collegiate win after tossing a complete game in an 11-3 victory over Jackson State... held Central Arkansas scoreless in 4.1 innings and just three hits in picking up a 4-3 win... picked up her only save of the season against Siena on Feb. 22.

At Lake Dallas HS:  Team ranked 10th in Dallas-Fort Worth area during senior season... earned all-area first team as a shortstop and all-district first team as well as being named MVP... during junior year, earned all-district first team... in sophomore season, earned all-district first team and earned a defensive gold glove... as a freshman, earned all-area newcomer of the year and defensive MVP...graduated with a 3.7 GPA.

Personal File:  Born Sara Marie Dornelas... daughter of Elizabeth and Chad Wright... has two brothers, Josh (22) and Blake (14)...majoring in Psychology...plans to become a psychologist.
