Coach Dan Bell on Hopkins: "Shot blocker supreme. Is still not ready for a prime role with our team. Offensively, his footwork and fundamentals have got to come along, but shot blocking, rebounding and dunking, he'll have some moments this year that will make us glad he'll be back for three more. 

In 1990-91: Hopkins was redshirted, but made a mark in practice. He shattered a glass backboard on a slam dunk, and his battles inside against Dexter Grimsley earned the respect of the Demons.

At T.K. Gorum HS: Honor roll student who was a star football and basketball player in the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools league. He played in the TAPPS Basketball All-Star Game after his senior year and was All-East Texas in hoops, averaging 17 points, 12 rebounds and six blocked shots per game. He led Gorum to a 22-8 record in his junior year and a 22-16 mark as a senior, and in both seasons, the squad reached the TAPPS Class AA state finals. Hopkins had a 3.5 gpa.

Personal: Clem Edward Hopkins is the sone of John and Pauline Barnes. He has one sister, Melody.  Both his mother and sister are operating room nurses. He is majoring in political science and plans to become an attorney. He's nicknamed "The C" and "High C"
