Coach Dan Bell on Stapler: "Scott Stapler is a lifetime friend. Played for a dad that I think an awful lot of, and Scott is, truly for the first time, a coach on the floor. Can shoot 3s. Best passer we've maybe ever had here. Not physically that gifted, but understands the game."

At Walker JC: Stapler averaged 10 points per game last season and had a 3.2 gpa, making the Dean's List, as Walker went 14-17.

At Grissom HS: Playing point guard for his father, Coach Ronnie Stapler, Scott set an Alabama high school 3-point shooting record as a senior. He averaged 18.3 points per game and scored 107 3-point baskets, including a state composite record of 6 in one game. Stapler was second-team Class 6A All-State and led Grissom, 22-11, to the state semifinals for the second time in his career. A two-time first-team all-city and all-region player, Stapler - who averaged 16 points as a junior - helped Grissom go 62-25 in the three years he lettered. As a sophomore, he teamed with Demons jay Scherer and Brooks Bryant as Grissom won the state 6A title with a 27-6 record, and his dad was the state 6A Coach of the Year. Also an Academic All-State pick, Stapler had a 3.5 cumulative gpa.

Personal: Scott Jeffrey Stapler is the son of Mr. and Mr.s Ronnie Stapler. He has a younger sister, Christy. He is a pre-med major who wants to be "some type of M.D." He is nicknamed "Cowboy."
